Watch: ‘Let his family be in peace,’ requests Manoj Bajpayee as he talks about nepotism and groupism in Bollywood in the wake of Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise

Manoj Bajpayee, who shared screen space with Sushant Singh Rajput in Sonchiriya has been pretty vocal about how things work in Bollywood. In the wake of the young actor’s demise, the debates on nepotism, as well as the ‘insider-outsider’ clash, have once again started. Post the death of Sushant, Manoj minces no words as he calls out the corporate houses, groupism, lobbying and unethical reporting in Bollywood.

Interestingly, Manoj was one of the first actors who raised this issue not only in the present scenario but when people did not even talk about it. He had gone on record to say that actors are not ‘superstars’ they are mere actors or entertainers, per se and the industry should nurture talent and not only work within their own cliques and groups.

In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon.com, Manoj spoke about groupism in the industry. He said, “What is the use of a corporate house if it doesn’t give rise to the best performer? What is the use of a corporate house if it does not give perks to its best-performing assets? In our industry, I have been saying it for a long time, we have to do away with these small-small segment and gangs. We have to make it a whole industry where our focus needs to be on talent whether it is coming from inside or outside. We’re not focusing on that, we’re only focusing on serving our own interests, backbiting, going for blind items, making it a clique and stopping others so that they don’t become a competition is injustice.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Manoj’s gripping and taut film Bhonsle has been released on SonyLIV to thunderous applause. The actor has once again given an impeccable performance in the titular role.
