Shilpa Saklani to play a negative role for the first time in Kaleerein


Small screen actress Shilpa Saklani is back with a bang to acting; all thanks to her hubby Apoorva Agnihotri. However, this time around the pretty lady is trying something different from her usual miss-goody-two-shoes persona. This time around Shilpa would be seen donning a negative character in the popular television serial Kaleerein. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi actress will soon join the television serial.

Shilpa said in an interview, “I am glad that I am doing something which I have never done in the span of 15 years of my career. Believe me; I was tired of playing a typical innocent woman. I really didn’t want to repeat myself again. But when I read the script of Kaleerein; it drew me towards it. Finally, I am playing a vamp on the screen.”


Shilpa Saklani will be entering the show as Arjit Taneja’s (character name Vivaan in the show) stepmom, Roma Kapoor. Talking about her character, Shilpa said, “I am entering as the main villain and the character is completely negative. It will create havoc in newly married Vivaan and Meera’s life and possibly bring in a different dimension to the show. The main excitement and twist in the show begins with my entry.”

Shilpa was last seen in serial Mahakali Anth Hi Aarambh Hai, which was her comeback to the small screen after a gap of almost four years. “Siddharth Tewary (producer of Mahakali Anth Hi Aarambh Hai) is a very good friend of mine. To be honest, when he approached me for the show; I couldn’t say no to him. Mahakali was a great experience. But now, I am really looking forward to the audience’s reaction to Mrs. Kapoor,” the actress concluded.

Kaleerien is a popular television series which stars Arjit Taneja and Aditi Sharma in lead roles. The show is produced by Nikhil Sinha and Sohanna Sinha. It remains to be seen whether Shilpa Saklani’s evil character gets accepted by the audience or not as she has always played innocent and true characters without any grey shade on the small screen.
