Ranveer Singh is more than happy to adopt wife Deepika Padukone’s surname; It’s legendary, he says
The world seems to be pretty much obsessed with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone changing their respective surnames after their wedding. While Deepika has already clarified to a leading daily that she isn’t contemplating on the aforementioned factor since she has “worked hard to create her identity”, Ranveer, on the other hand, is pretty much okay with adding Padukone to his name, as told by him to an eminent journalist during his interview.
Deepika, though, in jest had previously mentioned that Ranveer will adopt her surname and told about it during his interview, Ranveer said, “Since I have dropped my surname, I need a new one, so why not! It’s a legendary surname.”

Before making his debut in Bollywood with Band Baaja Baaraat in 2010, Ranveer had dropped his surname Bhavnani. Hence, Ranveer appears to have said what he said.
Meanwhile, Deepika, during her interview with a leading daily earlier this week, had said that she “never even had” a conversation with Ranveer about the surname change factor. “I’ve worked extremely hard to create my own identity and so has he. So, my question is, ‘why would he have to do that?’ I think what people see of us is a very minuscule part of our entire being and existence. But at the core of it, we are very alike,” Deepika had told the daily.
Ranveer and Deepika married in Italy in a two part-wedding – in a Konkani ceremony on November 14 and in a traditional Anand Karaj on November 15, 2018.
