Vijay Sethupathi roped in to play the antagonist against Shah Rukh Khan in Atlee's Jawan?


Shah Rukh Khan might be missing from the silver screen since his last film Zero released in 2018, but come 2023 and the superstar is all set to reign over the box office with not one but three films, namely, Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki. Now, the latest piece of news which has sent the fans in frenzy is that South superstar Vijay Sethupathi will play the antagonist in SRK’s Jawan, directed by Atlee. The actor has been roped in to essay a menacing villain in the film which also marks the Bollywood debut of Nayanthara. Earlier, it was speculated that Rana Daggubati will play the antagonist but as per latest reports, Sethupathi has joined the cast. He will join the shoot in the coming weeks.

An online portal quoted a source that said, “Since Sethupathi is one of the busiest actors in India, dates are now being worked out. Soon, he will join the film's sets in Mumbai for the shooting. An announcement will be made at the right time.”

An an old video of SRK praising Vijay Sethupathi is now going viral on social media. In the video, SRK can be heard saying, "I don't know how to say this and I want to compliment you. You are the most wonderful actor I have ever seen in my life."

Reportedly, the makers were keen on Daggubati but he had a busy date diary and hence the makers approached Sethupathi to play the villain. However, the makers are yet to make an official confirmation about Sethupathi’s inclusion in the film.

Besides SRK and Nayanthara, Jawan also stars Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Yogi Babu, Simarjeet Singh Nagra, Sunil Grover and Manahar Kumar. Jawan is a commercial entertainer written and directed by Atlee. The film will hit the theatres on June 2, 2023 in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
