Buzz is doing rounds that Ajay Devgn is collaborating with Abhishek Bachchan and Ileana D'Cruz for his next production venture. The yet-untitled drama is said to be "based on real events that took place between 1990 and 2000 and changed India's financial fabric." Now, Peepingmoon.com has learned about that event the film revolves around.

Sources close to the development have revealed that the film which will be directed by Kookie Gulati is loosely based on the life of the infamous stockbroker Harshad Mehta who was arrested for financial crimes that took place in the Security Scam of 1992. Abhishek will be essaying the role of the flamboyant trader, however, it's yet unclear what Ileana is signed to play.

"It's a coincidence that Abhishek is playing a person who was called 'The Amitabh Bachchan of the Stock market'. He plays a complex character which is kind of similar to his Gurukant Desai act in Guru (2007). While the Mani Ratnam film saw him smuggling machine parts of his polyester Mills, illegally creating goods and fudging stocks, this true-to-life drama shows him engaged in a massive stock manipulation scheme financed by worthless bank receipts," a source informed us.

Written by Kookie Gulati, Arjun Dhawan and Juhi Chaturvedi, the film narrates the meteoric rise and evenly sudden downfall of Harshad Mehta and also retraces the 1992 Bombay Stock Exchange securities fraud that he masterminded. The stock market wizard was convicted of four out of 27 criminal charges brought against him and was sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment. Popularly called The Big Bull, Harshad is believed to have changed the dynamics of the Indian stock market.

Ajay is producing this film in collaboration with his Total Dhamaal director Indra Kumar and producer Ashok Thakaria. Expected to be announced by this month-end, it goes on floors later this year.
