PeepingMoon Exclusive: Why King of Malayalam Cinema Fahadh Faasil not ready to enter Bollywood? He answers
Malayalam superstar Fahadh Faasil is a well-known name in the southern film industry. However, with the advent of OTT platforms and the releases that regional cinema is getting over it he has become a pan-India star. His recent releases C U Soon, Irul and the upcoming Joji have got the audience raving about him all across the country.
In an exclusive interaction, Fahadh spoke about his plans to foray into Bollywood and what according to him is unconventional cinema.
Excerpts from the chat:
What will bring you to Bollywood?
To be honest I am not ready to come to Bollywood as of now because I am not comfortable with the language, I do not know Hindi. Till the time I don’t have a command over the language I can’t do Hindi films. I do like Bollywood cinema and I wish I could take up a Hindi film and collaborate with some nice storytellers but the language is a big barrier for me which I am not ready to cross as of now.
Critics and audience often say you do unconventional cinema: what according to you is conventional and unconventional, considering a performance is free of such adjectives!?
That is a tough question; I don’t actually know the answer to this as what is an unconventional film and what is categorized as a conventional film. I would rather say that I look at cinema in a manner that if a story is conventional or say regular, I try to make my character unconventional so that it should stand out; and if the story is not so regular and run-of-the-mill then I try to play my character very normally. I don’t try to conflict between the ideologies. I don’t choose characters thinking what is conventional or unconventional.
