PeepingMoon Exclusive: Life is short, whatever makes you happy, do that- Adah Sharma comes out in Urfi Javed's support against trolls slamming her fashion sense
Quirk, fun, sass and talent complete Adah Sharma. Known for her kickass performances in Hindi as well as South films, the actress also grabs attention for her fun and unconventional fashion choices. Her crazy and quirky videos and posts on Instagram are often appreciated by the netizens.
In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon, Adah spoke about trying out bolder stuff, fashion-wise. Talking to us, the actress opened up about completing 14 years in the film business, being a risk-taker and the label of a pan-India actress.
Excerpts from the interview:
You will complete 15 years in the industry in 2023. How have these years been for you?
I feel I have been around for 100 years (laughs). I started with 1920 and now it is 2022, so 102 years! I am the only actress who has been in the industry longer than Mr Amitabh Bachchan (quips).
You seem to be a risk-taker. What encourages you to think and go beyond the usual?
This is all because of the audience and my fans. I am one of those who doesn’t get trolled even if I do something quirky. I feel encouraged to do more of it then. In films, there can be limitations, but on social media, there is no stopping. It is the place where you can see me 100% unadulterated.
You’ve done more films in the South than in Bollywood. Why?
I made my Telugu debut with Heart Attack by Puri Jagganadh. That's when I realised the importance of doing good roles and understood that language doesn't matter. This year I will have more Hindi films than South.
Pan-India films are the current talk of the town....
Before they were the talk of the town, I was a pan-India actress. My debut film 1920 was dubbed in Malayalam. Most of my South films get dubbed in Hindi. I have always been a part of pan-India films and consider myself a pan-India actress.
Do you feel that the OTT will erase the line between different film industries?
Due to the pandemic, I feel people will not accept mediocre things, be it on TV, films or OTT. There are so many options available now, people will watch what’s good and not just rely on superstars.
People who try out crazy, quirky stuff are not easily accepted on social media. How do you deal with these trolls?
I am one of those few lucky people who are not trolled for trying crazier stuff. I am fortunate to receive all the love for my fashion choices. The key thing about fashion is, you have to be yourself. If you try to be someone else, you'll be trolled. If you be yourself, you can never go wrong.
Urfi Javed is also known for her unconventional fashion sense. She is often trolled on social media. What do you have to say about that?
Trolling starts when people start talking about something. I feel people should talk only about what they do and not about others. To each his own. Whatever makes you happy, do that. Life is short, we should do what makes us happy. Talking about other people is so crass.
