Dior to showcase its pre-fall 23 collection at Mumbai’s iconic Gateway of India!
Yes, you heard it right! Dior has chosen Mumbai’s iconic Gateway of India as its ideal backdrop to showcase its next presentation. The brand’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri is all set to unveil its 2023 pre-fall collection at the said location, making it a one-of-a-kind show in this country so far.
Working closely with Mumbai’s Chanakya School of Crafts for the embroidered-centric collections, Maria has been maintaining both professional as well as personal connections with the country. Last time, for its Spring-Summer 2022 show in Paris, the creative director used the set entirely created by the ateliers at the Chanakya School of Craft, under the direction of Nehal Shah and Karishma Swali, co-founder of JADE, by Monica and Karishma.

In an exclusive conversation with Business of Fashion, Maria said that she is doing this show for the love she has for India. “Fashion is much more than 10 minutes on the runway. It’s all the people that work together on this incredible project. I am doing this show for my love of this country, and how much they support my creativity. It is really something very personal."
"For me to show in India means also to celebrate the heritage of India in embroidery and how important (it is) in the fashion world, she concluded.
This standalone show will be showcased on March 30 and the collections will be available for sale from late April. It will consist of evening coats, silk dresses, and sari-inspired skirts taking inspiration from Indian silhouettes. Some of the pieces would be embellished by Chanakya as well.
We can’t wait. What about you?
