Watch: Jada Pinkett Smith admits to ‘relationship’ with August Alsina while brief split from husband Will Smith, the latter says he was ‘done’ with her
Will Smith admitted he didn’t think he would ever speak to wife Jada Pinkett Smith ever again, during their brief split. With their 23-year-old marriage under social-media scrutiny, Jada and Will reaffirmed their commitment to each other as Jada admitted to having a relationship with musician August Alsina when she and Will were separated. Talking about their temporary split, Will admitted that he was ‘done’ with her.
In a one-on-one conversation on Jada’s series Red Table Talk which was released on Facebook Watch, she said that she was reluctantly discussing Alsina’s reported comments clarifying his claims that Will gave him ‘his blessing’. Talking about Alsina, Jada said, “One of the things I want to clear up that was kind of swirling in the press was you giving permission, which the only person who can give permission in that particular circumstance is myself. But what August was trying to communicate – because I could actually see how he would perceive it as permission because we were separated amicably – I think he also wanted to make it clear that he’s not a homewrecker, which he’s not.”
Jada and Will address the recent headlines and share their journey of finding peace through pain.

Will said, “I was done with your ass, I was done with you. Marriages have that, though. ‘We were gonna separate for a period of time, You go figure out how to make yourself happy, I’ll figure out how to make myself happy. I really felt like we could be over. I wasn’t sure I was ever gonna speak to you again. The fact that I’m speaking to you again is a miracle. I sure which it could be all magic and miracles. We never, ever, ever thought we would make it back.”

He further added, “There’s a real power in the… just knowing someone’s riding with you no matter what. I told you the first year we were married that I can love you through anything. I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life. I truly and really, really deeply loved, and have a ton of love for her. I devoted myself to it, I gave my full self to it. So much so to the point that I can die right now and be OK with knowing that I truly gave myself to somebody.”
