In 3.15 minutes, the trailer of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ promises relief from Covid!

There’s no telling when the government, any nation’s government or even the World Health Organisation (WHO), will provide a vaccine for Covid-19, but Akshay Kumar promises a break in the dark cloud of gloom that’s cast by the pandemic with his comedy-horror Laxmmi Bomb this Diwali.

The trailer of this unusual fare by the Bollywood superstar that’s directed by Raghava Lawrence is 3.15 minutes long. It is probably Bollywood’s longest. But by the end, you know that Akshay, Kiara Advani, Tusshar Kapoor, Sharad Kelkar, and Ashwini Kalsekar have only just tickled your imagination and whetted your appetite for the year’s most rollicking entertainer.

Yesterday, with a short video on Instagram of a bomb about to explode, Akshay promised, “Hassoge, darroge aur apne ghar valo ke sath milkar kal sab se bada dhamaka dekhoge.” Adding, #YeDiwaliLaxmmiBombWali! This after releasing the first two looks of Laxmmi Bomb by live interaction on Disney + Hotstar in which  the actor called the genre of the film his “favourite”.

Meanwhile, the trailer busts several myths that have kept Laxmmi Bomb under wraps ever since its original release date in March. The film will be bigger and different from Akshay’s first comedy-horror, Priyadarshan’s critically acclaimed Bhool Bhulaiyaa of 2007, because in this he is seen as transgender.

“This is my most mentally intensive role – a version of me I didn’t know existed. Never experienced it before. It was different from my other characters. Iska bolna, chalna action reaction maine kabhi portray nahi kiya. Laxmmi Bomb has made me more sensitive about gender equality,” the actor revealed.

The sets of the film are as dark and dangerous for the horror sequences as they are bright and festive for the romantic moments. There are song and dance moments aplenty including one rocking number titled Burj Khalifa choreographed vividly at the world’s tallest building by the same name in Dubai. Laxmmi Bomb is a remake of Tamil blockbuster Muni 2: Kanchana that was also directed by Raghava Lawrence. The film will premiere on Disney + Hotstar on November 9.
